UPS Store 0504 rude employee
Went to the UPS store location 0504 Warwick, RI 02889 at 3pm on Saturday the store looked empty, then an employee came and threw a "what's that" looking at the box we were carrying. It was a flat screen TV in the original box we were returning according to Amazon.com instructions, and I had the shipping label on hand.
She put a pair of scissors in front of me and said rudely "you need to cut that", which she could have done herself actually, as it took me less than 2 seconds to do.
Then my husband asked her nicely where she wanted him to put the huge and heavy box, and her answer was "on the scale there", again sharp and rude. Then she noticed the top of the box was missing some tape, and she barked "it's not going to make it if it's not taped, I can't send that" maybe two or three times, throwing nasty looks at us as we were looking at each other puzzled by her attitude; were we in a shipping center where they actually tape and ship boxes??? After a half minute, I told my husband, come on, we are going elsewhere (there are other UPS drop off stores all around town), then she pulled some tape from nowhere, and rolled it on the top of the box. Fine.
My husband who always has polite manners with women (even nasty, rude, impolite etc) asked her (ironically) if we could do anything else for her, and she grunted something about printing a receipt, which she gave to him, as I was already at the door.
This kind of "customer service" is so bad, that in this economy, I wonder how she can keep her job. I used to use that store for printing services, but I am going to move my business somewhere else. I don't want to come face to face with this employee again.

Well said, smelling the coffee.
The first thing I noticed was your reference to the business as "...a UPS DROP OFF STORE..."
It's a business, they need to make $$ to survive.
Then I notice how you paint yourself as so considerate...offering to help the employee carry the heavy box... If you had followed the return directions you would not have expected the employee to tape and label your box for free.
Wouldn't you be insulted is someone expected ( did not even as for) free labor and free supplies for an item called a 'drop off' To me "drop off" implies nothing else is needed, no need for additional services, etc.
Why was putting it on the scale annoying to you? Did you think might cost you $$ to have it weighed? Did it occur to you that the employee is required to weigh and scan in that package? Who pays for the rent, labor, utilities and supplies?
Answer this. Did you lock your purse/wallet in your car before entering the store? Name any business where you enter the store knowing you will not spend any money?
OK, you are not personally responsible for the bad deal the UPS Stores has had shoved down their throats. I understand if you are confused. This free service issue is just one of the many injustices UPS imposes on store owners. Yes, UPS does not own ANY of those stores.
So, check out your assumptions, moderate your expectations and act like YOU are asking for something free... because you are.
She gave you a receipt for dropping it off, what else do you want? you elitist snob.
God forbid you go into the store and actually buy something, you lowlife, you dirtbag, you graverobber.
I wish she would have leapt over the counter and beat you bloody. ***!
how much did you pay that store for their services? ever hear the saying 'you get what you pay for'?
its like going into a grocery store, walking around eating all the free samples and then leaving without purchasing anything. not really your fault I realize but, thats how many store owners/employees see drop off customers.
